Writing Poetry ?? ....A great accompaniment to a painting!
Written a poem in response to the USW exhibition “Towards Abstraction. Art in South Wales from 1960” which shows many works by Ernest Zobole one of which “Yellow Landscape” took my attention. Its rich dominant colour shines a light on the world and this is what I’m searching for in Art. I want optimism energy warmth and hope, at least at the present moment. Sadly this painting is so dominant it has to be exhibitied on its own. My thoughts turned to immigrants…..to refuges…. To people being isolated for their differences…… sometimes too different for the palette of the masses…… gay…… mentally unwell…… I think in writing this I am that dominant yellow landscape!!(???)

Curating and Creating Yellow
I’ve been curated over here,
Because my difference is clear,
But I’m not happy about where I sit,
It’s rather lonely.
My friends and family have welsh dark mood,
So sitting solitary for fear I’m food,
So bright in colour that I feud,
Is why I’m only
Allowed to sit in this position,
A Matisse like work in this exhibition,
A shinning beacon in a world of heavy valley.
But up on high Ernest’s decision,
To let the sunlight fill his vision
And create a yellow celebration jubilee,
Affords me dominant reaction,
Isolated from the more atmospheric abstraction,
The brightest painting in the collection of Za…bole…ey! SR. 2016
